In late winter and early spring, 936-Technologies volunteered with Community Resources for Science for three different science outreach events.

The 1st outreach event occurred at Bridges Academy in East Oakland, CA. 936-Technologies Founder Eric Young managed two different science demonstration to diverse young learners. One demo used flashlights and materials with different transparencies to encourage students to test variables, while the other was an open ended challenge to build a catapult!

The 2nd outreach event occurred at Berkeley Arts in Berkeley, CA. 936-Technologies Founder Eric Young read Rosie Revere, Engineer to a 1st grade class and then did a build your own flying contraption on a zipline challenge! The take-home message of persistence and acceptance of your own personal gifts really seemed to emotionally move the class.

The 3rd outreach event occurred at Willard Middle School. Folks over at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab brought Eric Young in to present ~8 minute overviews of his career path and science. These "reverse science fairs" give researchers a chance to connect with new, younger audiences!
